After leaving school at 16, Ian had various jobs before joining Kent county Constabulary as a Constable aged 19. He subsequently completed 31 years service before retiring.

Ian has had a great interest in the history of toastmastering for many years and enrolled for a training course and subsequently graduated.

He is now a full time professional Toastmaster with many varied engagements to his name including formal dinners, banquets, weddings of all faiths including Jewish, Masonic functions and numerous corporate presentation dinners. He is also a regular face at City of London functions, having been engaged as Beadle for the Worshipful Company of Paviors and the Worshipful Company of Loriners.

Having been educated at Sherborne Public School in Dorset, Peter had a short spell in the Navy followed by 27 years in the City of London, during which time he was honoured with the Freedom of the City. The nature of his business took him all over the Country as well as being in contact with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. This alone proved to be an invaluable asset when he took up the role of a Professional Toastmaster.

My career with Black & Decker/Dewalt and Keeler Ltd in Customer Service helped me as a Professional Toastmaster. Always having a caring nature and very much enjoying helping people, has stood me in good stead in this role. I started out as a Toastmaster in 1994 and quickly adapted to the scene. However, I was always conscious of the fact that I was not part of a big organisation and trained to do any function: weddings being my 'forte' until I joined the NAT.

David Thomson, having passed all the necessary examinations became a member of the National Association of Toastmasters in 1991, having been trained in all aspects of toastmastering, from the grandest royal or civic occasion to the smallest, but equally important private wedding anniversary celebration. John's approach to any event is to run the function in the manner you, the client, instructs. He has a modern approach without losing the traditional style that a trained Toastmaster brings, ensuring the smooth running of the event. Prior to becoming a Toastmaster, John spent his working life in the Merchant Navy and with British Airways. He was a Cabin Service Director and during his flying career served Royalty as well as members of foreign royal families, Prime Ministers, the aristocracy, as well as many showbusiness personalities, before taking early retirement to run his own Freehouse/Restaurant.
